Ganja farm eradicated at Onderneeming

A ‘Narcotics Eradication Exercise’ was conducted yesterday afternoon at Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, during which Police ranks discovered a plot of land about two acres in length, with about five hundred Cannabis plants, ranging from three inches to twelve inches in height.

GPL getting extra power for Christmas

Rose Hall produced 100 tonnes sugar between Sept 24 and 28

Debunking a claim by an APNU MP that sugar had not been produced at the recently-reopened Rose Hall estate, the Agriculture Ministry on Friday said that around 100 tonnes had been churned out between September 24 and Septembers 28 APNU’s Member of Parliament Vinceroy Jordan last week challenged the Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, and GuySuCo to release the production amount and cost so far for the Rose Hall Estate which officially returned to grinding last Sunday as he claimed that sugar was not produced at the location since its reopening.

Eccles fire destroys two houses

A fire on Old Road, Eccles, East Bank Demerara, at 10:30 am on Friday, gutted two houses, leaving a total of 14 persons homeless; a family of four at Lot 77, and 10 occupants at Lot 76, a rental property.
