Brutus told SOCU $46.4m was wedding, Christmas gifts

After coming under investigation by SOCU for money laundering, Deputy Commissioner (ag) of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Calvin Brutus told investigators that he deposited  $46.4m on the 17th of January this year which were proceeds from his wedding on November 11th last year and Christmas gifts.

Ethnic Relations Commission, UNDP sign MoU to combat hate speech

-Artificial Intelligence to be used to track social media sites In an effort to curb the spread of hate speech and information pollution here, the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC)  and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the knowledge base surrounding hate speech and fostering institutional resilience.

AFC delegation meets US State Dep’t officials in Washington DC

The Leader of the Alliance For Change (AFC), Nigel Hughes and a delegation on Monday held a meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, US Department of State, Barbara Feinstein; and Director, Office of Caribbean Affairs, Katherine Beamer, where they discussed matters pertaining to Guyana’s development and national elections, an AFC release stated.
