Rose project brings in $4m in first half of 2023

President Irfaan Ali’s ‘Cut Rose’ project, which was conceptualised to create employment for single parents continues to make progress and has earned over $4 million for the first half of 2023, a report yesterday from the Department of Public Information (DPI) said.

74% of deaths reportedly due to non-communicable diseases

With a reported 74% of the country’s deaths being due to non-communicable diseases (NCDS) and diabetes cases pegged at a staggering 60,000 plus, the government is now planning the implementation of a national healthcare database system, to aid in strategic policies to reduce new cases since no data is currently collected from persons with NCDs.

Radiation Safety Bill passed

The Radiation Safety and Security Amendment Bill 2022, aimed at regulating the use of ionizing radiation and protecting people and the environment from the harmful effects of radioactive waste, was on Thursday evening passed in the National Assembly after it saw support from both sides of the House.
