The government on Wednesday met with a delegation of major US and Global Fund managers and discussed among other issues, the potential investment power of this country’s Natural Resource Fund (NRF) but said that it would not be ready until sometime between 2028 and 2030.

Man gets four years for killing robber who attacked father

A father and son who had pleaded guilty to the 2018 killing of 23-year-old labourer Brian Dwarka, appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon on Thursday for sentencing; but only the son was sentenced as the judge said that a review of the evidence showed that there had been no culpability on the father’s part.

Sheep thief gets three-year sentence

Twenty-five-year-old Veshan Bharrat of Reliance, Essequibo Coast, appeared at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday June 08, before Magistrate Esther Sam where he was charged with Larceny of Cattle which occurred between May 28 and June 01, at Henrietta, Essequibo Coast.

`Smallie’ cremated in defiance of family’s wishes

By Shuntel Glasgow Following controversy over the custody of the remains of notorious murder convict, Royden Williams, the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) yesterday cremated the body despite objections and requests made by the family for it to be handed over to them for burial.
