Ramnarine: Tread carefully on Guyana dispute

Opposition deadlocked on speaker

Opposition parties APNU and AFC are still deadlocked over who should be the Speaker of the National Assembly, while the government yesterday voiced its concern over the ongoing negotiations between the two parties outside of the agreed tripartite engagement.

Boy, 13, drowns while trying to save niece

A family outing to the St Cuthbert’s Mission along the Mahaica River on Thursday ended tragically when 13-year-old Anand ‘Joey’ Ramdeo of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara drowned after the canoe he was paddling in capsized in the river.

Rupununi flood relief amounted to $64M

The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs (MoAA) has concluded the distribution of flood relief to victims affected by July’s flood in the Rupununi, with Minister Pauline Sukhai indicating that over $64 million was spent in the process.
