PAC meeting cancelled again for lack of quorum

For a second consecutive week, the scheduled meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been aborted due to a lack of quorum and Chairman Jermaine Figueira has said that he is mulling a motion for the National Assembly to reverse the April 2022 decision that changed the three-member quorum to its present five.

Berbice narco traffickers sentenced to 40 months each

Two out of the four men who were intercepted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) at sea back in November of last year yesterday made their first appearance before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Whim Magistrate’s Court and were sentenced to 40 months each after both pled guilty.

Welder remanded over cannabis

Twenty-seven-year-old Akeem Archer who was recently nabbed by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) was yesterday remanded to prison when he made his appearance before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Two jailed for 40 months each over large ganja haul
