A Spaniard who allegedly had 1.945kgs of cocaine in his possession at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

$200,000 bail for accused metal detector thief

A 22-year-old Mabaruma man who allegedly stole a metal detector valued $400,000 from  a Brazilian  was yesterday placed on $200,000 bail after he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

NASSAU, (Reuters) – Bahamas will crack down on gun  and drugs crime by introducing tougher penalties, strengthening  the police and courts system and applying the death penalty for  some categories of murder, the prime minister said.
