Police cite underreporting of domestic violence cases

Commissioner of Police  Clifton Hicken and the  Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of the Guyana Police Force conducted a ‘Family Violence Presentation’  yesterday at the Officers’ Mess Annexe, Eve Leary during which the underreporting of domestic violence cases was highlighted.

Parliament clears $40.7b in supplementary financing

-MPs clash over sugar, rice industries Just over $40.7b in supplementary financing was approved by Parliament after around 10 hours of debate yesterday and there were clashes over several of the items particularly for the sugar industry The two sides argued over  contingency funds equalling $4.57 billion intended for the agriculture sector during the 85th Sitting of the National Assembly at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

Paul Chan and Troy Abrams both pled guilty when they appeared before Justice Navindra Singh at the High Court in Demerara on August 6 for the 2019 murders of money changer, Aaron Latchman, and his 18-year-old daughter, Arianna Latchman, at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
