6,000 Guyanese to receive hospitality training in Barbados

Barbados has agreed to train 6,000 Guyanese for the hospitality sector, according to President Irfaan Ali, who says it is among a number of mutually beneficial measures agreed following a bilateral engagement between him and Prime Minister Mia Mottley on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) held in Barbados earlier this month.

Sod turned for $150M Amaya milk plant in Region Five

The sod was turned yesterday afternoon to mark the start of the construction of the Amaya Milk Company’s $150 million state-of-the-art milk processing facility at Onverwagt, West Coast Berbice, which is expected to produce pasteurized milk for store shelves by the end of April  next year.

Flood relief grants disbursed in Region Nine

On Saturday last, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha traveled to the villages of Awarewaunau, Shea and Maruranau, in Region Nine, to distribute flood-relief grants to farmers who suffered during this year’s extended rainy period.
