Three women die of COVID

The Ministry of Health today said that as of July 27, 2021, three more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

UK donating 84,800 COVID vaccines to Guyana

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab today announced that the UK is sending 84,800 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Guyana as part of the first batch of the 100 million doses the UK pledged to get the poorest parts of the world vaccinated as a matter of urgency.

Ponzi accused facing 60 new charges

The principals of Accelerated Capital Firm Inc (ACFI), Yuri Garcia and his wife Ateeka Ishmael yesterday faced 60 new charges of conspiracy to defraud but did not show up at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s court, according to a release from the police last night.

ExxonMobil finds more oil at Whiptail

ExxonMobil today said it has made an oil discovery at Whiptail in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, its 21st major find here and adding to its nine billion barrels of recoverable resources.

Minister urges house lot applicants to ‘trust the system’

A nonagenarian was among hundreds of individuals who were allocated house lots for low-income earners by the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s, ‘Dream Realised’ housing drive and Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, yesterday called on applicants to trust the system as the authorities are working to resolve the backlog in the system.
