Unvaccinated staff locked out of NA hospital

A group of workers who are yet to be vaccinated against COVID-19 were yesterday locked out of the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, leading to some of their vaccinated colleagues joining them in solidarity and leaving the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit without nurses for some time.

Catholic churches suspending public worship

Bishop Francis Alleyne has announced that Guyana’s Roman Catholic churches will be suspending public worship indefinitely, while saying virtual services would be held in solidarity with parishioners who would otherwise not be allowed entry as a result of the government’s recent restrictions on access to public spaces by unvaccinated persons.

A 15-year-old boy was among two persons arrested this morning after a gang on motorcycles committed daring robberies on commuters as they awaited the retraction of the Demerara Harbour Bridge According to the Guyana Police Force, the teenager and a 23-year-old man were arrested after its crime patrols in Division 4A were informed that the robberies were being committed.
