No paid parking in front of public schools -City, SCS, teachers agree

The Mayor & City Council, Guyana Teachers Union and Smart City Solutions, after giving due and special consideration to the critical and fundamental role that our teachers play in the education and development of the nation’s children, agreed today, 27th January, 2017, at a joint meeting between the Council, the Union and the Company, that vehicle parking spaces immediately in front of the public schools will not be regulated for the purpose of metered parking by Smart City Solutions, a joint statement  said.

T&T terrorist bodies: from 80 to 333

(Trinidad Express) Within the last five months the number of “entities” listed as terrorist bodies in Trinidad and Tobago under local anti-terrorism laws have grown from 80 to 333 as the government is seeking to pursue cases in the local courts of financing of terrorism abroad.

Rice Board audit sent to cops over financial irregularities

A forensic audit of the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB) board has uncovered several financial irregularities, including officials in unauthorised foreign currency trade using the PetroCaribe fund, according to Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman, who says the report has been submitted to Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud for further investigation and action.

Trio remanded over John St AK-47, ammo find

The three men who were arrested after police found an AK-47 assault rifle and a 9mm handgun at a Campbellville, Georgetown residence, were yesterday remanded to prison after being read charges for the alleged possession of the firearms and matching ammunition.
