Prosecutor in Buddy’s fuel trial asks for more time

The decision as to whether the defendants in the Buddy’s fuel trial should be called upon to lead a defence was delayed yet again yesterday as Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) prosecutor Anil Nandlall sent a message to the court asking for more time to respond to the issues raised in the defence’s submissions.

Venezuela replies to incursion note

Venezuela’s Ministry of External Relations has responded to Guyana’s diplomatic note in relation to the border incursion and the destruction of two dredges in the Cuyuni River on November 15 and the government here is studying it.

A 50-year-old Berbice man who was recently detained in connection with the $7.8M robbery of a cambio dealer back in October, appeared yesterday in court charged with the attack and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive Hamilton.

In his letter captioned “Torture is a peculiar form of disease with a human vector” (07.12.07) Mr Eusi Kwayana omitted the word `not’ in the fourth paragraph which should have read: “Our purpose was to bring this matter formally before a court of justice for redress and relief and bring it in a form that will not allow the Director of Public Prosecutions to withdraw it from the court.”
