Venezuelan reports of clandestine meetings on border controversy untrue

Guyana’s ambassador to Venezuela Dr Odeen Ishmael has dismissed as “totally untrue” an allegation in the Venezuelan media he had been summoned by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to a meeting following the publication of an interview and an opinion piece, or that he had been involved in clandestine negotiations with the Venezuelan Foreign Minister on the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy.

Lethem businesswoman robbed by armed Brazilian gunmen

A Lethem businesswoman was on Friday evening robbed of money and over $300,000 in jewellery by three armed men who are believed to be Brazilians and a photograph left behind by one of the men has been positively identified by Brazilian police as that of a known criminal who is wanted for a series of murders and armed robberies in that country.

Competitive cricket carded for Providence Stadium on Friday

The Providence Stadium will get its first test of competitive cricket on February 16 when 2006 Shapoorji Pallonji Twenty/20 Cricket champions Young Warriors tackle GCC in a friendly affair that has been organized to test the readiness of the Local Organising Committee’s ability to host the CWC Super Eight matches scheduled to commence on March 28.
