Protests mount in Barbados over retirement age

(Barbados Nation) Having staged a third march yesterday in protest of the Government’s attempt to increase the national retirement age, organisers say they are prepared to ramp up action if Government does not adjust its stance.

Life in jail for Barbados man who killed two girlfriends

(Barbados Nation) The man who killed two of his girlfriends, stabbing the last one 24 times, and who was described by his father as “demon possessed” was sentenced to the rest of his natural life behind bars yesterday.

Port of Spain, Trinidad – The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) late Friday, published its judgment denying special leave in a case  out of Barbados, in which Ramnarace Ramassar sought permission to appeal an ejection order obtained against him by his landlord, Stella Scantlebury.

Barbados judge calls for witness protection

(Barbados Nation) Justice Carlisle Greaves is not happy. His displeasure stems from the unwillingness of a number of witnesses to testify in trials where four men, in two matters, were accused “of shooting up the place”.

TCL to cut 70% of Barbados workers

(Trinidad Guardian) Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) yesterday confirmed that it will retrench 70 per cent of the workforce at its wholly owned Barbados-based subsidiary, Arawak Cement Company.
