Jamaica Minister: Windrush apology would ‘set the record straight’

(Jamaica Gleaner) State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alando Terrelonge, who visited the United Kingdom (UK) to participate in National Windrush Day activities, says an apology from King Charles III and the British Government would set the record straight in relation to that country’s role in chattel slavery in Jamaica.

Success for Haiti is success for CARICOM – regional leaders

(Jamaica Gleaner) As regional leaders and former leaders came together in Kingston yesterday for the opening ceremony of the Meeting of Haitian Stakeholders, who will use Jamaica as base for discussions on the way forward for the beleaguered CARICOM nation, it was Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis who spoke at length about the hopes and aspirations for the violence-torn republic.

Trillions owed in reparations for Transatlantic slavery – report

(Jamaica Gleaner) Trillions of dollars in reparations are owed to nations affected by slavery, a recently concluded study on the quantification of reparations for Transatlantic Chattel Slavery (TCS) in the Americas and the Caribbean has found.
