Deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon falls 68% in April, first major drop under Lula

SAO PAULO,  (Reuters) – Deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest fell 68% in April from the previous year, preliminary government data showed yesterday, a positive reading for President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as it represents the first major drop under his watch.

Trinidad apologises to Barbados over Brent Thomas removal

St Lucia accedes to CCJ

The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) today said it has noted that the Constitution of Saint Lucia (Amendment) Act has been assented to by the Governor General of Saint Lucia and that state has now officially acceded to the CCJ’s Appellate Jurisdiction.
