Bouterse’s 20-year sentence over 1982 murders affirmed

A Suriname court-martial  has affirmed the 20-year sentence against Suriname’s former President Desi Bouterse over the 1982 December murders and he now has 14 days in which he can appeal.

Trinidad Police seize cache of guns, ammo after traffic stop

(Trinidad Guardian) Members of the T&T Police Service seized several guns, including high-powered weapons, which were in the possession of a businessman who holds a Firearm User’s Licence (FUL), following a road exercise on Saturday.

Two killed in spate of Trinidad shootings

(Trinidad Guardian) In the space of an hour and a half on Friday night, there were reports of seven shootings in various parts of the country including Diego Martin, La Horquetta, Tunapuna, El Socorro, Morvant, Carenage, and Port-of-Spain, which left two dead and several others injured   Oshayle Debisette and Trevlayne Dedier were the two people killed.

(Trinidad Express) Commissioner of Police (Ag), Gary Griffith, and the executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) have extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of WPC Eunice Neptune-Alleyne who passed away yesterday at the Scarborough General Hospital, as a result of the COVID-19 virus.

PAHO urges caution in reopening schools

 (Jamaica Information Service) The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is recommending that member countries adopt a phased approach to reopening schools for face-to-face learning in the new academic year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

(Jamaica Observer) FALMOUTH, Trelawny – Family members and friends of Derrick Rose, affectionately called Sarge, 53, and his pal Darrien Cassells, better known as Cheddy, 38, two popular businessmen and socialites, are still grieving their passing on Monday — hours apart — at the Falmouth Public General Hospital where they were admitted with COVID-19.
