Brazil death toll rises by 1,480 as probe pressures Bolsonaro

RIO DE JANEIRO,  (Reuters) – Brazil added an additional 1,480 people to its COVID-19 death toll yesterday, as a looming investigation of how the government has handled the world’s second-deadliest coronavirus outbreak puts increased pressure on right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro.

Biggest volcano explosion yet rocks St Vincent

KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,  (Reuters) – Hot flows of ash, rock fragments and gas tore down the flanks of the La Soufriere volcano on the tiny Caribbean island of Saint Vincent today after its most powerful explosion yet, four days after it first started erupting.

(Trinidad Guardian) Members of T&T Defence Force sail to St Vincent today on the Galleons Passage vessel to carry supplies and assist the eruption-ravaged island– and the vessel will also bring home T&T nationals who are in St Vincent.

Power outages hit Saint Vincent amid volcano tremors

KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,  (Reuters) – The Caribbean Saint Vincent island was hit by another explosive event from the La Soufriere volcano early today, triggering power cuts and water outages in some areas, while ash clouds began to blanket parts of the island of Barbados.

New dome on La Soufriere volcano blown away

 (Barbados Nation) KINGSTOWN – The new dome that was forming in the crater of La Soufriere for months was blown off in the explosive eruptions, sending at least 13 million cubic metres of material into the atmosphere.
