Trinidad bars, restaurants to remain closed but gyms, cinemas to reopen

(Trinidad Guardian) Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has announced adjustments to the COVID-19 restrictions, including a full return of public servants to work from tomorrow, and the reopening of gyms, places of worship, cinemas and members’ clubs with some caveats.

Trinidad: Angry pupils, parents call for ‘justice’ over CXC grades

(Trinidad Express) SCRAP the exams and pay pupils’ query fees. These were among the calls of parents and pupils who protested outside the Red House which houses the Parliament in Port of Spain yesterday to show their dissatisfaction with the grades of the 2020 CSEC and CAPE exams given by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) .

Three women charged with beating Tobago man

(Trinidad Guardian) Three women appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Virtual Court to answer charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, false imprisonment and robbery with aggravation of a 28 year old man Dachel Ashby 19, a security guard, Jennieve Gardiner 28, unemployed and Reacheal Martinez 36, also security guard are all close relatives.

Trinidad: New taxes on vehicles to start January 2021

(Trinidad Guardian) The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the proposed increase of taxes and import duty on certain private motor cars—namely, certain smaller engine CNG, electric and hybrid cars—which were announced in the 2021 Budget Statement, will now be applicable from January 1st, 2021.
