Russia abandons Lyman bastion, Putin ally says time for nuclear response

KYIV,  (Reuters) – Russia said today its troops had abandoned a key bastion in occupied eastern Ukraine, a stinging defeat that prompted one of President Vladimir Putin’s most hawkish allies to call for Russia to consider resorting to low-grade nuclear weapons.

Florida, Carolinas count the cost of Hurricane Ian

FORT MYERS, Fla./CHARLESTON, S.C., (Reuters) – Florida, North and South Carolina faced a massive clean-up today from the destruction wrought by Hurricane Ian, after one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the U.S.

Hurricane Ian steams toward Carolinas after battering Florida

VENICE, Fla.,  (Reuters) – Emergency crews raced today to reach stranded Florida residents as Hurricane Ian trained its sights on the Carolinas after cutting a coast-to-coast path of destruction across Florida, leaving behind deadly floodwaters, downed power lines and widespread damage.
