El Salvador’s Bukele deploys military after spike in murders

SAN SALVADOR, (Reuters) – Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele yesterday deployed the military to patrol streets throughout the country in response to a surge in murders this week.

Sierra Leone president suspends state auditor pending probe

FREETOWN,  (Reuters) – Sierra Leone’s chief auditor Lara Taylor-Pearce, who has been widely praised for her efforts to improve government accountability, said yesterday President Julius Maada Bio had suspended her while the attorney general investigates her office.
