Step back from opening the floodgates to corruption

Dear Editor, A country with a leadership that refuses to recognize between available funds and the management skills and prudence to effectively manage those monies is doomed to failure and will be responsible for the wisdom of ‘willful waste brings woeful want’ and worst, opening the door to corruption and greed, the cancer that only brings pain, suffering and distress to this and succeeding generations.

Fit and proper to honour our President with an African award

Dear Editor The daggers are out. All the reasons given. It must be seen as incomprehensible, given all the claims of racial bias, discrimination and oppression, an African country, an African organization would see it fit and proper to honour our President with an African award! 

Unbecoming sexualized attacks in the National Assembly have moved beyond the pale and should concern the entire society

Dear Editor, I categorically condemn Members of Parliament Anand Persaud and Kwame McCoy’s verbal sexualised attacks on Member of Parliament Juretha Fernandes during the sitting of the Budget Debate on Tuesday, 23rd Jan 2024, and express dismay Speaker Manzoor Nadir did not find such unbecoming behaviour deserving to direct MPs Persaud and McCoy to apologise and leave the House, forthwith.

Unauthorized increase in fares of #44 minibuses

Dear Editor, This letter is to inform the relevant authorities (Traffic Chief – Guyana Police Force, Ministry of Public Works, Consumer Affairs Bureau, and any other) of the unauthorized but widespread increase in fares of the #44 minibuses working the Georgetown- Annandale/Strathspey route.
