Dear Editor, I am writing because I find it disingenuous when politicians attempt to use arguments for argument’s sake when debating the merits or demerits of the 2024 budget.

Dear Editor, Finally, the awaited CoI Report into the deadly fire is out and from all accounts two officers, in the main  are being held responsible, one moreso than the other, their actions, or lack thereof, being deemed dereliction of duties.

Dear Editor, Please allow me permission to share my emotions. We stayed up all night to behold the first glimpse of Sri Ram Lala; after celebrating with several  thousands of devotees braving freezing weather in the streets chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’.

Dear Editor, Further to the national revelation that the US EXIM Bank is conducting its own due diligence before approving the loan application for the offshore pipeline, NGL and power plant in the Gas to Energy project, I write to enquire whether it is in fact necessary for Guyana to increase its burgeoning loan portfolio?

Dear Editor, It now appears that routine disclosures about the nation’s oil wealth have turned into yanking teeth and pulling fingernails. 

Dear Editor, President Irfaan Ali and the PPP/C administration must be commended for presenting to the nation yet another budget that is people-oriented while at the same time laying a solid foundation for accelerated growth and development.

Dear Editor, I refuse to believe that Professor Sankat described a “facility stimulator” as a component of the Guyana Technical Training College. 

Dear Editor, Following on from my letter yesterday on the Mahdia COI Report, I was surprised/shocked to see two crass comments under the line about the conduct of Maj-Gen.

Dear Editor, Guyana’s 2024 Budget’s theme: ‘Staying the Course: Building Prosperity for All’ undeniably reflects the primary goals and objectives of the PPP/C Government who hit the road running since assuming office in August 2020, never pausing for a moment but relentlessly pursuing and ensuring that the socio-economic development keep progressing at break-neck speed and the lives of the Guyanese people gets better on a daily basis.

Dear Editor, The Project Syndicate article (January 20th) from Ashoka Mody says the following about Prime Minister Indira Gandhi: “Her pandering to Hindus in the Jammu and Kashmir elections, and her support for the Sikh militant Sant Bhindranwale in Punjab, further stoked Hindu identity politics.”

Dear Editor, After every four continuous years of service a public-school teacher usually proceeds on Whitley Council Leave (WCL) for a month having satisfied the condition of applying for such leave.
