Letters to the Editor

A country facing an existential threat to its survival cannot afford this level of disinformation

Dear Editor, As Maduro’s aide plunked down volumes of notebooks on the desk at the beginning of the meeting with Guyana’s President, Irfaan Ali, few could have guessed the contents would be the writings of Guyanese on the topics of the border and, of ExxonMobil’s operation in Guyana, but it was predictable as day follows night for those who think before using the pen.

The President can surely talk to the unions

Dear Editor, Just a thought! As President Irfaan Ali can sit down and talk with President Nicolas Maduro (who is deemed to be the enemy of Guyanese) surely he can sit down and talk with our unions (who are not the enemy of Guyanese)?

Argyle was a triumph for diplomacy

Dear Editor, It is always better to sift through the many press reports, pressers, editorials, contributions by columnists and letter writers in order to have a useful reflection on the historic meeting between the Presidents of Guyana and Venezuela before offering a considered opinion.

Big win for President Ali

Dear Editor, The recently concluded meeting between President Irfaan Ali and his Venezuelan counterpart turned out to be a big win for Guyana.

Ending suffering in a steady and sustainable way

Dear Editor, The headline, “People are Still Suffering Although we have Oil”, (Kaieteur News, Monday 18th December 2023), is so naturally appealing but so persuasively misguiding, I could not let it pass though weeks late in my preparations for Christ-mas and the New Year.

A society governed by reaction

Dear Editor, In this, my 20th published letter for the year it moves me with great sadness to mourn and relay my condolences to the family and friends of our nation’s fallen service members who died unexpectedly via the Bell 412EP helicopter crash enroute to Arau in the Essequibo region.
