Letters to the Editor

Jagdeo had an opportunity to stand in the nation’s highest decision-making body and denounce his statement

Dear Editor, People’s Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary and Guyana’s Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo, at his press conference last Thursday sought to cast aspersion that yours truly is an extremist for holding him to account for his government’s discussion to grant Venezuela “a channel to the sea” when that country is coveting two-thirds of our land, settled by the 1899 Arbitral Award.

Dear Editor, Many letters have appeared in your letters’ column on the Israel/Gaza conflict but most, if not all, embrace a mindful gap of the global impact arising out of Hamas’ actions on October 7, 2023; among the 1,200 hostages held in Gaza are those who either hold dual citizenship or are citizens of 40 countries.

Rohan Kanhai

Dear Editor, A poem in honour of Rohan Kanhai’s University of Guyana recognition recently announced.

Israel ties
