Letters to the Editor

Bizarre introduction of ‘Policia’ signs

Dear Editor, The bizarre introduction of ‘Policia’ signs on Guyana Police Force vehicles is a mistake that should have been admitted and corrected, the Commissioner of Police chose however to ‘double down’ and issued a statement in defence of the signage that said “GPF Police patrol vehicles to have both English and Spanish writing as a strategic and inclusive approach towards improving service delivery”.

Mr Fried Chicken’s apology should have been widely published

Dear Editor, Your newspaper of  yesterday indicates that a letter of apology was sent by the owner and management of the Mr Fried Chicken store to the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha and  apparently in the same letter the owner gave an unacceptable and ridiculous excuse that his shipment of bags was delayed .

Awful case of attempted murder of child

Dear Editor, The awful case of attempted murder of a ten-year-old and felonious wounding of a twelve-year old gives rise to speculation about what could two kids do to so explode the wrath of the alleged perpetrator?

Dear Editor, APNU Member of Parliament, Annette Ferguson, has berated me for what she describes as “disrespect for the female journalist”, referring, I believe, to Stabroek News reporter Marcelle Thomas.

Gov’t should consult with opposition, civil society

Dear Editor,  While I am happy that Guyana is on an upward trajectory under the democratically elected PPP/C Government I feel there is a necessity for the Government to consult with the political opposition, the unions and civil society to strengthen democracy.

We must run harder, longer, faster in education!

Dear Editor, The Ministry of Education’s (MOE) announcement of new class size guidelines, and clear definition of roles of school administrations in teacher supervision are tiny steps in the right direction for our education system needing massive reforms.
