Letters to the Editor

I repeat that the sale by the gov’t of carbon credits was fraudulent

Dear Editor, I hope that Joel Bhagwandin knows that plants/trees convert atmospheric carbon dioxide into leaves and wood and roots, and also respire carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere as they generate their energy for survival and growth; see his letter ‘The sale of carbon credits to offset carbon emissions does not breach the Amerindian Act’, SN 04 July.

Gov’t has taken the agri sector to new levels

Dear Editor, Drainage and Irrigation was always under the Government’s microscope, especially in support of the agriculture sector; and the continuum of interventions included, but was not limited to: •   Significant improvement in the operation and implementation of the flood control structures; •  Construction of additional drainage outlets countrywide; •  Major rehabilitation of approximately 600 miles of canals and drains, as well as the Dawa Pump Station; • Rehabilitation of pump stations, structures and drainage outlets; •  Negotiations for financing to optimize efficiency and capacity of the conservancies, especially with the objective to maximize the availability of arable lands for farming activities; •  Installation of the Doppler Weather Radar; • Expansion of the hydro-meteorological monitoring network •  The Hope Canal; among others.

On what basis did the complainant withdraw the charges?

Dear Editor, Guyanese, in and out of Guyana, are fuming that the complainant does not wish to pursue the matter in relation to the allegations against PPP/C Government Minister Nigel Dharmalall and are asking on what basis did the complainant, a minor, withdraw the charges against  Dharamlall?
