Letters to the Editor

GECOM failed to address these issues

Dear Editor, GECOM, which failed to update the public on the conduct of Discipline Services balloting, found the time to comment on the Stabroek News report on the service-persons who could not cast their ballots on Friday because their names were omitted from the lists at the places where they are stationed and intended to cast their ballot.

How was this figure arrived at?

Dear Editor, In that storm in a teacup episode, it has to be queried how was the figure of perceived and supposedly disenfranchised members of the joint services arrived at?

Jones should address the heist of state lands under the PNC

Dear Editor, The PNC cabal continues to operate in an alternate universe where they believe Guyanese have forgotten their corrupt, evil and abhorrent policies and actions that inflicted severe pain and suffering on ordinary Guyanese whom they now pretend to embrace in opposition.

The Modi Decade

Dear Editor,  You should smack yourself for missing it.   Shashi Tharoor’s article “The Modi Decade” had a semblance of objectivity about Indian development under Modi.

President must convene Mahdia COI without delay

Dear Editor, Our worst tragedy in recent memory took place on May 21, 2023 at Mahdia in Region Eight, and after milking every drop of public relations from the heartbreaking event, the Irfaan Ali government now seems anxious for Guyanese to move right along and return to business as usual.

NRF and investments

Dear Editor, If the amount is correct, it is a tad late in looking to park Natural Resource Fund dollars in comforting investments (“NRF for safe investments, as below US$500M sources say…”, SN June 5, 2023).

Alexander’s claim of disenfranchisement is mystifying

Dear Editor, Commissioner Vincent Alexander’s claim that GECOM disenfranchised some 900 or 10 per cent of Disciplined Services’ members who were qualified to vote on June 2, ‘because their names were not on the list’ is mystifying to say the least.

Crossover

Dear Editor, The acceptance of one into your fold, who openly supported the return to office by any means, when it was known a loss was the outcome,  seems a measure intent on portraying democracy in action.
