Dear Editor, The shock, trauma, devastation, and horror of the Mahdia fire has awakened in all students and citizens of Guyana a new consciousness that what Government does or fails to do can cause us to live or die.

Dear Editor, In a shareholder document released on April 13th, 2023 ExxonMobil makes this claim, “ExxonMobil’s affiliate [EEPGL] works cooperatively with the Guyana Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure environmental permitting relating to exploration, development, and production activity fully complies with Guyana law.”

Dear Editor, I am writing as a concerned citizen to express my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the tragic school dormitory fire that claimed the lives of 19 children in  Mahdia.

Dear Editor, For 3 days this nation has mourned the senseless death of 19 children….the

Dear Editor, The recent release of the bids to build the three teachers’ quarters in Region 8 must be redone to include the necessary fire safety measures in the construction process.

Dear Editor,  In recent letters to the press, Robin Singh, a person who is yet to apologise for publicly labelling me and some members of civil society treasonous, is peddling more illogic.

Dear Editor, I read with approval the caption `President says committed to setting up CoI into Mahdia tragedy’. 

Dear Editor, Herein, I respond to Ras Khafra, who sought to give legitimacy to his mischief and self-appointment in a response to my earlier letter of Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Dear Editor, I have noticed that numerous individuals launched scathing attacks against Priya Manickchand, aiming to hold her responsible for the disastrous Mahdia Dormitory inferno.

Dear Editor, The fire in the Town of Mahdia, Region 8, was a tragedy for all Guyanese, moreso the parents and close relations.

Dear Editor, As President of the National Amerindian Development Foundation (NADF) and a member of the Patamona Peoples and an Indigenous Leader from Region 8, NADF and supporters of the organization sadly extend deepest regrets for the harrowing incident which snuffed the lives of nineteen students and seriously injuring others in a billowing inferno at Mahdia’s Secondary schools’ dormitory, Region 8.

Dear Editor, I wish to extend my most sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who perished in the tragic blaze at the Dorms in Mahdia and to the survivors.

Dear Editor  The just concluded period of national mourning was not observed with the dignity and solemnity deserving of such an occasion, by the majority of the electronic media.

Dear Editor, The South Rupununi District Council (SRDC) would like to express how deeply saddened we are, by the unfortunate and tragic fire that occurred in the female dormitory in Mahdia, Region 8. 

Dear Editor, It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I express sincere condolences to the immediate families, relatives, friends and the community of Mahdia as a collective on the tragic death of 19 young students who were trapped in a dormitory fire.

Dear Editor, Your editorial 24th May 2023 regarding the Mahdia tragedy stated the following “In light of the fact that sensor alarms and sprinklers probably will not work in the hinterland owing to electricity issues, is there an alternative alarm system in place?”

Dear Editor, There are numerous instances, even when justice has been done by the prosecution securing the criminal conviction of the perpetrator, where victims of crime are left to fend for themselves with injuries that arose out of the unfortunate incident.

Dear Editor, The first thing I want to do is to give condolences from my narrow circle and myself to the relatives and communities who have suffered as a result of the dormitory fire at the Mahdia secondary school.

Dear Editor, ExxonMobil will have its annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday May 31st, 2023.
