Dear Editor, My pain is unbearable, and if this be mine, then that of the Indigenous Guyanese community has to be beyond the blood of anguish that I sweat, the convulsions that wrack. 

Dear Editor, It is 2 a.m. and I cannot sleep. My heart is full of grief and rage because 19 young souls were not given a chance to experience life as it is their right to do.

Dear Editor, May I convey appreciation of the touching tribute in the Trinidad Express Newspapers of Tuesday 23 May 2023, on the tragic deaths and severe injuries incurred in the fire at the Girls’ Dormitory at Mahdia, Guyana.

Dear Editor, As Guyana moves into its 58th year of nationhood on Friday May 26 that English speaking nation has been described as the fastest growing country in the planet.

Dear Editor, We are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces and cousins, who are deeply saddened and perturbed by the death of so many children who lost their lives in the Mahdia  Secondary School Dormitory fire.

Dear Editor, Guyana mourns today. The grief, the pain, the sorry is palpable.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter by Ms. Alissa Trotz in your newspaper dated May 22nd, 2023 and headlined “Expired, unsigned insurance document submitted by EPA refers to Egypt and not Guyana.”

Dear Editor, Early this morning I was alerted to the tragic news that nineteen young persons perished in a fire at Mahdia Secondary School dormitory. 

Dear Editor, Nineteen of Guyana’s young children are dead in Mahdia. 

Dear Editor, Father God, before you I lay the heavy hearts of those mourning losses, crying and begging for comfort of some kind.

Dear Editor, Our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones due to the fire in Mahdia.

Dear Editor, Amazingly, the discovery of oil off the coast of Guyana seem to generate many pseudo experts on petroleum and gas.

Dear Editor, We are still reeling from the daring prison escape, now comes the horrific tragedy of the fire at the Mahdia Secondary School dormitory.

Dear Editor, The test of a nation’s moral fibre is the reaction to a national tragedy like this sad loss of life.

Dear Editor, Five years ago, Chatham House, in its infinite wisdom, dispatched a band of worthies (from Oxford and elsewhere) to a caucus at State House to lecture the APNU/AFC administration on the sanctity of contract.

Dear Editor, Please allow me a response to Mr. Vincent Alexander’s recent tirade against me that was carried in the letter column of the Sunday Stabroek Sunday May 21, 2023 in which he made several spurious objections to the contents of a letter that I drafted and circulated among members of the African Guyanese cluster of organizations that elected me as their official representative on the Ethnic Relations Commission.

Dear Editor, May 26 is Guyana’s 57th independence anniversary. The historic date also marks the 59th anniversary of the atrocities committed against Indians in the mining town of Wismar.
