Letters to the Editor

People, not dogs, are the problem

Dear Editor, With the recent controversy about pit bull attacks, why don’t some owners understand that failing to enclose their dogs by a fence in a yard with a gate, or keeping their dogs on a leash will prevent these terrible attacks on people.

Guyana needs more Eusi Kwayanas

Dear Editor, I agree with Frank Fyffe’s letter (SN 21.6.08) that Guyana needs more Eusi Kwayanas to critique wrongdoings and to advocate for what is good for the country.

Joint Services were not involved in Lindo Creek murders

Dear Editor, Kindly allow me to offer my heartfelt sympathy to Mr Arokium and others whose relatives were murdered at the Lindo Creek camp; further I wish to state categorically that members of the Joint Services were in no way involved in that act; their training and military morality prevents them from behaving in such a manner.

Disclaimer

Dear Editor, Please be advised that there was a letter published in SN on Wednesday June 25, 2008, entitled ‘Judges should be required to deliver their decisions in a reasonable time’ signed by one Sherwin Campbell.

Good moves

Dear Editor, I wish to thank the management of the Demerara Harbour Bridge for two new policies which they adopted recently; firstly to allow drivers of left-hand-drive vehicles to pay their tolls at the window to their left instead of having to get out of their vehicle and go around, which sometimes causes a backup of traffic and sometimes swearing from other drivers.

Women do respect themselves

Dear Editor, With respect to the letter written by Mr Navindo Tinsarran (‘Women don’t respect themselves’ SN 25.6.08), I agree completely with him when he says that the lyrics of many songs played publicly and privately are offensive and degrading to women, and indeed to any human being.
