Dear Editor, I wish to refer to an article in Sunday Stabroek, May 18, 2008, written by one of our own intellectual geniuses, Dr Ian McDonald, with the caption ‘Uttering nonsense.’

Dear Editor, Two bits of news I received within hours caused me to ponder on the question of exiles.

Dear Editor, I was shocked to read that President Jagdeo publicly and undiplomatically chastised prominent industrialist Yesu Persaud at a reception where the ‘Who’s Who’ of Guyanese society were present.

Dear Editor, The education that we are acquiring in schools today is basically academic.

Dear Editor, We refer to the letter entitled ‘Islam and homosexuality’ (GC 10.6.08) written by a person afraid to sign his/her name and who is possibly a) not a Muslim, and b) a homosexual/lesbian and afraid of this information becoming public.

Dear Editor, As a concerned citizen and motorist I would like to remind pedestrians, especially schoolchildren, that they should use a pedestrian crossing, when provided, for crossing roads and stop this dangerous practice of crossing where and when they wish.
