Letters to the Editor

A ‘President’ Obama would have his work cut out

Dear Editor, In response to VO Patrick’s letter, ‘The prelude to the end game,’ (SN, 5.6.08), I share the writer’s sentiments regarding the history-making achievement by an African American, Mr Barack Obama, in the long and sometimes tense fight with Mrs Hillary Clinton for the just concluded Democratic race for the nominee in this year’s US presidential race.

Respect for the housewife seems to be diminishing

Dear Editor, In Iana Seales’ article, ‘Women still pressing for recognition of unwaged work’ (SN, 8.3.08), it was stated “… after more than a decade since the fourth world conference for women in Beijing in 1995, when a platform for action was set up, issues of inequality remain current.

The PNCR has failed to change

Dear Editor, The main opposition PNCR has changed its name several times, but it has failed to change its attitude and this is its basic problem preventing it from offering itself to the general public as a viable alternative to the PPP/C government.

Intention to merge

Dear Editor,  With reference to the article ‘Delta lands’ (SN, 2.6.08) , the statement “Delta, in an attempt to address the rising cost of fuel and increase its international presence, recently merged with Northwest Airlines forming the world’s largest carrier,” is incorrect.

Cricket has been killed at Leonora Park

Dear Editor, I do acknowledge Mr Nick Jackson of Guysuco’s response (‘Guysuco will not stand in the way of the community renovating Leonora Park’ SN, 28.5.08) to my letter ‘What is the status of the Leonora Park cricket ground?’

The prelude to the end game

Dear Editor, The Democratic presidential nomination reached its climax on Tuesday night with Obama copping the required number of delegates subject to confirmation at the convention.
