Dear Editor, After reading the very mean, foul attack on Mr David de Caires, Editor-in-Chief of the Stabroek News, by Rickford Burke in last Saturday’s edition (May 24) of this newspaper (‘Stabroek News has sold its soul’), I wondered whether this is the same individual who manages an organization in New York that carries the strange, convoluted name of ‘Caribbean Guyana Insitute for Democracy’?

Dear Editor, The government has spent millions of dollars to build hospitals, health centres and diagnostic centres.

Dear Editor, I refer to Mr Vishnu Bisram’s letter of May 18 captioned, ‘NACTA was the successor to the Turkeyen Research and Polling Institute.’

Dear Editor, Criminality exploded with ruthless savagery a few months ago leaving a nation already politically and racially divided, shocked and traumatized.

Dear Editor, I am not sure whether you would normally read the Guyana Chronicle newspaper, but if you do, I am positive that you would usually vomit or burn the papers after you have read its mountain of lies and propaganda.

Dear Editor, I write this letter in response to Vidyaratha Kissoon’s ‘Freud did not think homosexuality a mental disorder’ which was published in the Stabroek News May 23, 2008, and in support of the stance Roger Williams has taken so far on the issue.

Dear Editor,Behind the nice façade of the new New Amsterdam Hospital there are the daily struggles of those who depend on its services.

Dear Editor, I refer to the article, ‘A survey launch would allow monitoring of coastal erosion’ based on an interview with engineer Philip Allsopp with comments by engineer Charles Sohan (SN, April 27, 2008) Your readers may find these facts interesting as a clarification to Mr Sohan’s comments.

Dear Editor,With reference to the ongoing Polar Beer saga, my  primary concern is that the multi- agency team be allowed to perform its tasks in a professional manner, and more importantly that all those fingered are allowed due process and indicted on the basis of evidence and proof and not on what any high official believes.

Dear Editor,I wish to congratulate the President and the Ministry of Human Services for their initiative to alleviate the cost of living effects on single parents and public servants.

Dear Editor,In recent times there has been a spate of articles on housing in Guyana from some rather important and influential persons such as Mr Peter Ramsaroop, Dr Prem Misir, the Mayor of Georgetown and one of the Peeping Toms.

Dear Editor,The promotion of drinking in Guyana has now become very prominent.

Dear Editor,I welcome the news of a reduction in the fuel tax that will assist both motorists and commuters.

Dear Editor,I am profoundly relieved at the decision of the political opposition to finally form a united front and stand up against the PPP regime, ‘Opposition to petition Caricom on governance issues,’ (SN, May 23).

Dear Editor,It is disheartening to learn that American Senator Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with brain cancer with the prospect of successfully battling it almost to zero.

Dear Editor, It is with much frustration that I am writing on behalf of my daughter who has been employed within the Ministry of Agriculture for the past eleven years.

Dear Editor, Stabroek News is an excellent paper and should be congratulated for stead-fastly campaigning for human rights and decency in the body politic of Guyana.

Dear Editor,After taking up residence in Alberttown in October 2005, I immediately applied for a transfer of tenancy with the Guyana Power & Light because there was no light in the building as it had recently been repaired and rewired.

Dear Editor,I wish to applaud the move made by the joint parliamentary opposition to work together to ensure that the plight of the Guyanese people is highlighted and addressed at the regional level.
