Dear Editor,
My attention was directed to a letter by Mr Hamilton Green, JP, captioned “The PNC facilitated many housing schemes”(08.04.28)in which he mentioned about “the dozens of housing starts facilitated by the previous administration ranging from Roxanne Burnham Gardens to Prashad Nagar”.
Dear Editor,
I wish to give my advice to the gentlemen of the Guyana Minibus Association on their utterances about the increase in minibus fares.
Dear Editor,
A friend of mine recently forwarded me a document from the Office of the President entitled: “Meet the new Cabinet Members”.
Dear Editor,
On Thursday May 1, Guyanese will march and hold two rallies (TUC and FITUG) to commemorate the struggles of the working class.
Dear Editor,
I did not realize that changing a cheque was such an intricate and costly financial transaction.
Dear Editor,
I have read in your columns a number of quite articulate arguments pro and con the decision to suspend the operations of TV Channel 6.
Dear Editor,
From my own perspective, you have been rather indulgent with Mr Kit Nascimento in according so much space to his repetitious discourse on the subject of “Broadcasters (being) held to a high standard of responsibility”.
Dear Editor,
I fully support Mr Rakesh Rampertab’s contention that the history of banditry in the eighties (SN April 27, 2008) ought to be researched, documented and published.
Dear Editor,
When those writing and speaking on behalf of African Guyanese accuse the ruling administration of marginalization, invariably they are screamed at to provide proof.
Dear Editor,
I wish to state categorically and without fear of successful contradiction that no African Guyanese will accept or share the very low opinions which Kean Gibson has of them and which she expresses in her letter captioned “A case can be made for marginalization without the use of statistics,” (08.04.24).
Dear Editor,
For some time now we knew that Wordsworth McAndrew was not well but being a proud and determined man he bore his condition with great bravery.
Dear Editor,
I have noticed that there is an alarming tendency of invoking old unproven racist stereotypes in the debate on marginalisation in Guyana.
Dear Editor,
So Wordsworth McAndrew has passed away. Mr Paul Harris in the Stabroek News of April 27 assigns to him an appropriate term: A National Treasure.
Dear Editor,
I couldn’t agree more with the statement by Rakesh Rampertab in his letter captioned “The kick-down-the-door banditry in the eighties was brutal and debilitating” (08/04/27) that with respect to East Indians, “the devastation caused and the extent of the psychological dominance resulting from years of criminal attacks have unfortunately been ignored or taken for granted at times”.
Dear Editor,
The two successful protest marches, organised by the main opposition party the PNCR, under the banner “Freedom March against dictatorship” in solidarity with Mr C N Shama and his workers(over the government closure of Ch 6 for 4 months), the rising cost of living, the crime crisis and the bogus charges against Mr Oliver Hinckson – should put to rest any question about Mr Corbin and his party’s capacity to get their supporters back to street marches after a protracted withdrawal from that form of protest.
Dear Editor,
According to Abu Bakr “The discourse on marginalisation needs to elevate itself from statistics” (08.04.70).
Dear Editor,
I am very happy for my fellow Guyanese farmers at Buxton who are benefiting from free land clearing, drainage and irrigation and access works together with compensation on top.
Dear Editor,
The public affairs office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would like to compliment the Guyanese media outlets for being careful to distinguish between the 13-million-member international church and a small polygamous sect, which was raided by Texas state officers a few weeks ago.
Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter by Mr Mohan Singh captioned “Marginalisation requires detailed analysis, it can’t just be asserted” (08.04.20).
Dear Editor,
My sister-in-law, Mrs Lilowtie Sookdeo, attained the age of 60 years on November 20, 2005.
