Letters to the Editor

One of the saddest days in global sports

Dear Editor, The Olympic Games is the highest sport event there is and it is an event where the world reaches on one circuit to compete in many sports disciplines against each other…Medals are earned and one’s participation equals medals earned…New Friendships are born among athletes and its always breathtaking to witness athletes embracing each other from different countries after an event or when on a podium… Many may not know or remember 50 years ago when tragedy struck at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games on September 5 and 11 Israeli athletes were kidnapped and died by the hands of Palestinian terrorists.

Dear Editor, Like Swami Aksharananda (SN Letters, September 6, 2022) I too am puzzled by the outrage expressed by Mr Enrico Woolford (SN Letters, September 5, 2022) over the historical truths and personal sentiments stated by Mr Ravi Dev in his letter published September 4, 2022 in this column.

Democracy is alive in Kenya

Dear Editor, Democracy is alive and strong in Kenya with the Chief Justice rejecting the challenge to the recent election results and upholding the declaration of William Ruto as president-elect.
