Dear Editor, A letter in the Stabroek News under the title “The healthcare system in Guyana is fractured and needs major surgery”, provides an opportunity to highlight some of the advances in the health sector of Guyana.

Dear Editor, It is instructive that the persistent peaceful protests of the Toshaos, on behalf of the residents of Indigenous Communities, have now earned the latter increased grants, in addition to Supplementary Budget allocation of 3 Billion Guyana Dollars.

Dear Editor, I am extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Shri Nowrang Persaud who died two weeks ago, at the age of 85.

Dear Editor,  Since I am neither an Economist nor financial expert, I avoided commenting on this recent statement from the PPP hierarchy that the oil money should not be spent whimsically or as they put it, ‘like a drunken sailor’.
