Letters to the Editor

Police Force has once again proved ineffective in protecting innocent Indo-Guyanese

Dear Editor, When I read that the recent protest on the East Coast of Demerara which resulted in the beating and robbing of Indo-Guyanese and burning of their properties was started by a misleading news report from a media house, I immediately recalled an article some years ago in the UK Guardian newspaper under the caption “Journalists jailed for inciting Rwandan Genocide”.

Guyanese must bond together in solidarity for all victims

Dear Editor, The New York Guyana Democracy Project (NYGDP) joins the President of Guyana, other individuals and organizations in condemning the looting and robberies and violence and the destruction of (including arson on) properties (buildings, market stalls, vehicles, and goods).

The elusive ‘One Guyana’

Dear Editor It is happening again. Protests escalating into violence and destruction of property, same as it did two years ago, following another killing, this time though, eliciting a threat against the life of the President.

Guyana-China friendship has stood the test of time

Dear Editor, As we celebrate 50 years of Diplomatic Relations with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the people of Guyana have been the beneficiaries of that relationship, which began in late June 1972 and in spite of our rapidly changing and confused world, the Guyana-China friendship has stood the test of time.
