Dear Editor, An I News Guyana news online article titled “Excise tax rates applied by GRA to remigrants’ duty-free vehicles unlawful – CJ” published on 29/7/2024, caught the eye for some stunning revelations regarding the disparity in taxes paid by a remigrant citizen of Guyana and a citizen that has been living in Guyana. 

Maduro will not go quietly

Dear Editor, Today, July 28, Venezuela votes. The date, chosen by the National Electoral Council (CNE), signals their orientation: it is the birth anniversary of Hugo Chavez, 61 year old Nicolas Maduro’s predecessor, mentor, promulgator of the present Constitution; the name of the country (the Bolivarian Republic) and the guiding philosophy of the  United Socialist Party he founded – dubbed “Chavismo”.
