Dear Editor, CARICOM recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary – July 1, 2024.

Dear Editor, I have tremendous love and respect for Dr David Hinds and other officials in the WPA but it would be dishonest of me to say that the WPA can and will garner more votes than the AFC anytime and anywhere.

Dear Editor, I couldn’t help but imagine what a chutney singer’s lyrics would sound like, accompanied by some tassa drumming, as he or she pictures Nigel Hughes, leader of the Alliance For Change (AFC) and top-notch attorney, arguing that his law firm’s work with oil companies should fall under the Local Content Act.

Dear Editor, As a little boy, I spent many summer months at No 41 village WCB and walked to my great aunt at Rising Sun (Mary D’Aguiar) property now Rising Sun Horse Racing grounds.

Dear Editor, VP Jagdeo must be applauded for accepting that corruption exists in public procurements.

Dear Editor, As Guyana’s main political parties have recently elected their leaders and are now preparing for the pivotal 2025 presidential elections, the nation stands at a crossroads.

Dear Editor, Reminiscent of an earlier fire in Bath Settlement, where several destroyed buildings and properties were not insured, it is alleged in the latest Bush Lot inferno ‘none of the buildings nor businesses [we]re insured’ (KN July 3), including, ironically, the building which housed an insurance company. 

Dear Editor, I deliberately withheld this intervention until the PNC/R had concluded its Bi-Annual Congress.

 Dear Editor, Not a day goes by when I walk around this country and do not hear the cries of the ordinary man, woman and child how costly it is to live in oil rich Guyana.

Dear Editor, The swift and proactive measures taken by the Guyana Government to bring relief to victims of Hurricane Beryl is commendable.

Dear Editor, I offer my congratulations to Nigel Hughes, the newly elected AFC Political Leader.

Dear Editor, SCOTUS made a pronouncement on June 30th on the matter of presidential immunity, basically saying the president of the United States must have absolute immunity for Official Acts.

Dear Editor, The holding of Congresses or Conventions of political parties in Guyana and other jurisdictions in the Caribbean region has been the subject of ridicule and taunts.

Dear Editor, Nothing in the world is worse than when someone engages in conduct unbecoming of the lofty standards, he has set himself.

Dear Editor, Oh, what a delightful twist in the ongoing Guyanese political drama!

Dear Editor, One great cricketer, captain and commentator, the late Ritchie Benaud often remarked after a thrilling match that ‘cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties’.

Dear Editor, Looking from afar at the PNCR Congress this weekend I had a strong feeling of 2020 deja vu all over again.
