Dear Editor, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s recent visit (19th- 21st November 2024) to Guyana has confirmed the views of many, particularly those in the African community, that the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) leaders are deep in their programme to diminish the presence of African and other non-East Indian Guyanese.

Dear Editor, At least 30 years ago I had publicly, in the Stabroek News’ letter columns, discussed what we’re going to do with the sugar estates when we lost the European subsidy.

Dear Editor, The Government through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, has unveiled and published its dates, venues and times by area regarding the ‘Old Age Pension Books for 2025’, taking effect from December 4, 2025.

Dear Editor, Congratulations are in order to the Government and people of Guyana and all who participated in the historical visit of Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. 

Dear Editor, A monetary value can’t be placed on the trip Guyana expended on security and entertainment and local transport and probably received more (in gifts, like grants) than was incurred, making it a net gain.

Dear Editor, As a Hindu Guyanese, it gives me great satisfaction to note that America has its most Hindu friendly administration.

Dear Editor,   I would be grateful if you could permit the publication of this letter as a response to a letter written by Mr Christopher Ram under the heading ‘Proposed amendment to the acquisition of lands acts should be withdrawn forthwith’ that was published in the Stabroek News on the 28th November 2024.

Dear Editor, In its recent editorial, `Erosion of independent thought’,  Stabroek  News critiques the state of public discourse, attributing its decline to the proliferation of sound bites, viral posts, and partisan rhetoric.

Dear Editor,  It was refreshing to hear the Hon. Prime Minister Brigadier Mark Phillips’ statement in the National Assembly on the advancement of a Government of Guyana policy (providing low cost and reliable energy supply to the population).

Dear Editor, Thanks to attorney-at-law, Mr. Christopher Ram, for his tireless, thankless work for Guyanese. 

Dear Editor, As the last month of the year and therefore Christmas beckons, I make a short simple statement.

Dear Editor,   Amid incessant calls from opposition forces for the introduction of biometrics in the 2025 election voting process, Guyana’s Attorney General (AG) Anil Nandlall states that while he is not opposed to technology, “the manual system being used for voting is working perfectly fine.”

Dear Editor, I followed the recent ‘diabetic walk’ in Guyana and I am very surprised, and even frightened, reading that some ‘60,000 Guyanese are being affected by diabetes.’

Dear Editor, There has been much talk about restorative justice in Guyana and building the infrastructure to apply it.

Dear Editor, Suriname’s recent announcement that all 600,000 of its citizens will share in the benefits of a $10 billion oil discovery is a breath of fresh air.
