Dear Editor, Government loses two cases in one day- what the hell is going on?

It has been 26 years since a declaration by the United Nations General Assembly designated October 17 as International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Dear Editor, On the night of Saturday, October 13th, two GDF officers are reported to have approached a couple at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground on the Essequibo Coast (Region 2) and robbed the young man of his valuables before taking turns to rape the young woman in front of her boyfriend.

Dear Editor, October 2018 marks 20 years since the Indigenous peoples of the Upper Mazaruni filed a court action against the government of Guyana, seeking legal recognition to their traditional and ancestral lands.

Dear Editor, Those who know better are bound to recognise the confusion apparent in the report in SN’s Columns of October 13 on the so-called ‘deal’ reached ‘between Government and Teachers on Wages’.

Dear Editor, I wish to inform the general public that there will be an upcoming public star-party held at the Georgetown Seawall, within the proximity of the Band Stand.

Dear Editor, Ranks of the Crime Scene Investigation Department participated in a six-week training at the Officers’ Training Centre which concluded on Monday October 15, 2018.

Dear Editor, I have noted the expressed and implied attack  on me by the Stabroek News in their edition of Monday the 15th October 2018 in a front page article headed  “Transparency body sees “major” conflict of interest for Hugheses over oil.”

Dear Editor, The Regional Democratic Council of Region Two calls for urgent action by the relevant authorities to address the recent allegations of rape of a young lady in the presence of her boyfriend at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground by GDF ranks stationed at the Anna Regina Base.

Dear Editor, There have been sporadic reports of determination to establish a local law school; a good thing by any measure. 

Dear Editor, In February 2018, Exxon produced a 20-minute Facebook video in which its stated purpose was to address questions concerning the Oil Contract, Revenues and Taxes.

Dear Editor, In yesterday’s Stabroek News, the attention of the GAWU was drawn to the news item which stated that  Vice President, Minister of Public Security and Alliance for Change (AFC) Chairman, Khemraj Ramjattan in his address to a meeting in New Amsterdam on October 13, among other things, spoke to the sugar industry.

Dear Editor, In response to GPL’s letter, ‘GPL upgrade programme in Buxton/Friendship does not include reconfiguring of the network’, in the October 7th, 2018 edition of Stabroek News; I wish to offer the following response.

Dear Editor, I read with great interest a front page story in yesterday’s Stabroek News under the rubric `Transparency body sees `major’ conflict of interest for Hugheses on oil’.

If one is even remotely aware of the sheer scale of the crisis that has been afflicting the administration of the capital for many years, then it becomes the easiest thing in the world to be persuaded that City Hall is incurably afflicted with a condition of sheer idiocy.
