We are losing our recent history

Dear Editor, Days after David Jessop, made the observation, “The region’s recent history is being lost” in his weekly column in Sunday Stabroek, March 25, it was pleasing to see the Jamaican PM was moved to taking tangible and decisive action: ‘Jamaica PM moving to secure legacies of leaders, museums,  libraries to be built’ (SN, March 27).

It is stupefying that Nedd thinks you need to be an expert to condemn the petroleum contract

Dear Editor, Mr Justin Nedd, Chief Executive Offi-cer (CEO) of Guyana Telephone & Tele-graph Company (GTT), made the following comment at the launch of GTT’s Innov8 Technology Exhibition held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel on March 24th, 2018, as carried by Demerara News Online: “Very often in Guyana, and I have seen this several times, we have many experts but those experts – we really have to ask ourselves: are they really experts or do they have access to the web so they use that access and sometimes fool the masses?”

We should add questions citizens can answer to the ballot papers at the next local government elections

Dear Editor, Our nation is blessed to have a high standard Elections Commission that is well staffed and funded to provide us with reliable general and local government elections, I would like to suggest to our administration that we utilize these events to not only elect officials but to add questions to the ballot and let the people of the nation have their say on the issues that affect our daily lives.
