Dear Editor, The most recent and tragic fire that occurred in Kitty, Georgetown that resulted in at least three homes being destroyed and two considerably damaged, and scores of persons being made homeless, brings to the fore once again the dereliction on the part of the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter written by Vishnu Bisram in the SN of March 9, 2018 titled, ‘Kissoon’s claim does not hold water,’ in which he asserts that I was the letter editor at Kaieteur News and prevented publication of his letters.

Dear Editor, On behalf of the Plaisance fire victims and myself, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends of the late Mr James Johnson who perished in a fire on Mashramani Day, February 23, 2018, that started at the old Abiola Hotel located at Lot 41 Victoria Road, Plaisance.

One can just imagine the joy suffusing citizens’ faces when they read that Georgetown, following the example of villages, mining areas and towns in this green and verdant land of ours, is to have a ‘City Week’.

Dear Editor, Mr Manzoor Nadir has responded in the Stabroek News, 5th March, 2018, to OAI’s statement, in which we set out the facts with regard to Nadir’s accusations that “one family should not enjoy the sweet of state, Guyana must benefit” and with regard to the funding of the development of the airport.

Dear Editor, I make reference to a letter by Mr Freddie Kissoon, titled ‘I have no control over the publication of letters’ (Sunday Stabroek, Mar 4).

Dear Editor, Most of us may not be aware of the relationship that exists between states that maintain publicly funded education systems and their citizens.

Dear Editor, For some time now, police officers have been stationed in front of Queen’s College compound on Camp Street, indiscriminately pulling over busy citizens during the week and on weekends and holidays.
