Dear Editor, On Saturday 9th February my attention was brought to a letter published in the letter column of Stabroek News.

Dear Editor, Organizers of the recently concluded International Petroleum Business Summit & Exhibition (GIPEX) conference should be commended for attracting a diverse group of delegates some of whom have excellent credentials in the oil industry.

Dear Editor, A February 9th  letter in Stabroek News `Lyrics of Junior Calypso Monarch were vulgar’ and elsewhere, covering the Junior Calypso Competition, cited  some examples of “vulgarity” in one of the songs. 

Dear Editor, I write to compliment the Ministry of Natural Resources and Guyana Inter-national Petroleum Business (GIPEX) for hosting the oil summit (Feb 7-9) as reported in your media under the caption ‘Oil summit opens’ (SN, Feb 7).

Dear Editor, For the past two plus years since I have been residing in Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice in Region Five, consumers have been suffering from water stoppages at least twice daily, from between 12 noon and 1pm every day for a few hours; then the water cuts off from about 8.30 pm every night for the entire night until 5 am the next day.

Dear Editor, Our attention was drawn to a letter published in the newspapers authored by Mr Nigel Hinds, Auditor and Financial Consultant (‘There was no earthly reason to delay Sleep-In’s casino application process’ SN, Feb 10).

Dear Editor, I participated in the just concluded inaugural Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit and Exhibition and must congratulate the organizers and participants for making the conference one of meaningful discussion and analysis, and moreover a forum at which pertinent information was shared and burning questions posed.

As we reported in our edition yesterday, Brazilian Defence Minister Raul Jungman arrived here on an official visit and was told by President David Granger that Guyana, “would like to review the Joint Communiqué on defence to determine its applicability to present-day circumstances.”

Dear Editor, The inability of the Guyana Oil Company Limited to effectively attract and retain a competent Chief Executive Officer is astounding.

Dear Editor, We are only in the second month of 2018 and another is Commission of Inquiry (CoI) is upon us.

Dear Editor, On the issue of the Integrity Commission, the Leader of the Opposition by way of his own statement undermines the spirit and intent of the Guyana Constitution.

Dear Editor, The Stabroek News print edition of Thursday 8 Feb, 2018 might not have been deliberate in its layout to show the disconnect in governance in Guyana and how Guyanese are being treated.
