Bauxite company continues to show contempt for the workers

Dear Editor, The Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) takes note of a conscious and proactive workforce employed at the Bauxite Company of Guyana Incorporated (BCGI) seeking to have their employer respect their right to enjoy benefits awarded to them by the government through a decision made in 2016 to cease taxing overtime and all premium hours worked.

Dear Editor, The reasoning behind having difficulties on the grounds of age with some appointees, when those persons are younger than the octogenarian Chair, but having no difficulty on the grounds of age with the appointment of the octogenarian Chair, is baffling.

Dear Editor,                                       On Tuesday, 21st November, 2017, a group of Mayor and City Council workers led by a Treasurer’s Department staffer, informed regular and potential vendors that the Council has authorised vending on the Eastern side of the road, in front of Stabroek Market (the ‘No’, ‘No’ area) and on Regent street.
