There is a stark divide in Guyana’s youth population today; referencing young people aged 15 to 24 years.

Dear Editor, At the outset allow me to join the number of organisations and persons who condemned President Granger’s unilateral appointment of a GECOM Chairman and apologise to all eighteen nominees who were insulted by Granger’s decision to reject all of the lists and appoint his own person as Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission.

  Dear Editor, Mr Nowrang Persaud has for some time been advocating, quite correctly, that the Indian Monument to be donated by the Indian Government should be located at the point of arrival of the first Indian Immigrants at Highbury.

Dear Editor,   It was just learnt that a most distinguished Guyanese, retired Major General, Joe Singh has resigned as Special Assistant to the President of Guyana and as well as from State Boards.

Dear Editor,   Since the APNU+AFC administration took power in May 2015 there have been a number of questionable decisions made which could have been justified as coincidences and maybe, incompetence but now, a sinister plan is clear by the unilateral appointment of this Gecom Chairman by His Excellency, President David Granger.

  Dear Editor, I read with amusement, yesterday’s Guyana Chronicle’s blazing headline, ‘Nandlall caught lying’.

Dear Editor,   As a shareholder of GBTI, I am appalled by the action of SOCU in charging our Directors as criminals, and by your newspaper parading their photographs as presumptive criminals.

Dear Editor, Reference is made to your editorial titled `October 5’ (SN Oct 8) commenting on the struggle for the restoration of free and fair elections on the occasion of the 25th anniversary since independent Guyana held its first democratic elections.

Dear Editor, There is a frightening report in the Sunday Stabroek of 22 October, 2017 that City Councillor Sherod Duncan is ‘willing to subject himself to legal judgement’ after a ‘misjudgement’ in dealing with a case of child sexual abuse. 

Dear Editor, Unlike detractors and critics, I applaud President Granger for making the appointment of a chairman for Gecom.

Dear Editor, We thank UK High Commissioner, Greg Quinn `Court could be way out of GECOM Chairman imbroglio but decision would have to be given quickly – UK High Commission-er’ SN October 23rd , for speaking out on this most crucial issue of obtaining decent governance in our native land.

Dear Editor, Mabaruma residents are very thankful to the Stabroek News and Kaieteur News for exposing in the public domain the problems they are currently enduring at the hands of public officers particularly the lawless and unprofessional police officers at the Mabaruma police station and now at the Mabaruma public hospital.

Dear Editor, The confession by former Deputy Mayor Sherod Duncan that ‘it was a misjudgment’ (SN October 22 2017) in not reporting the alleged sexual assault of a minor to the relevant authorities, which act took place on the premises of the council, is indeed troubling.
