Dear Editor, I write to dismiss Mr Clement Rohee’ s proposition, in his SN letter of June 20, that “Vincent Alexander was parachuted into the Ministry of Education, unbeknownst to the WPA, to understudy Minister Roopnarine” (‘The WPA should have called for a meeting of the Governing Leadership Council of APNU’).

Dear Editor, The recent remarks by the WPA of not being consulted by the APNU coalition puts them behind the eight ball, so to speak.

Dear Editor, This year has not been good for the education sector in Guyana.

Dear Editor, The Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc (GuSuCo) has taken note that one of the unions that represents a large section of our workforce, the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU), has taken the lead in organising protest action to advocate on matters purported to be associated with the corporation.

Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (Royal Aviation Society), better known to the world as the Royal Dutch Airlines, or simply KLM, is the official flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. 

Dear Editor, Every child should be allowed to focus on those subjects likely to provide the best outcome for their careers.

Dear Editor, Public misinformation by the government, its information arms and state media is doing grave disservice to society.

Dear Editor, I wish to draw to your attention, the fact that the Petroleum Bill 2017, Bill Number 4 2017 came up for its first reading on May 8, and its second reading on June 15 in the National Assembly.

Dear Editor, The WPA is fast becoming irrelevant. The WPA delegation at the June 16, meeting comprised well-known individuals, some of whom are deeply embedded in the state/government structure or have long been co-opted onto committees vested with policy formulation beneficial to the Granger administration.

Dear Editor, Sometimes you read a letter in SN from a distinguished writer, and you feel compelled to respond, even if it is just to stimulate further discussion.

Dear Editor, The problem with the PPP/C is that there are many good people in the party but its hierarchy is tainted and undemocratic.

Dear Editor, I understand that the President of the WICB has said that Darren Bravo  cannot be selected for the West Indies team unless he gets rid of his tweet that insults the President, and that his ban has been made effectual by the selection for the first part of the Indian tour of the same squad that was recently beaten by Afghanistan.

Long before last week’s announcement that Dr Rupert Roopnaraine was being removed from his portfolio, it had already been clear that our education system was underperforming seriously and that it would not have been possible, whoever had been chosen to replace him, to significantly improve the situation in the short or even the medium term.
