Dear Editor, I would be grateful if you could carry a retraction in your papers on the headline item, ‘AG owes no apology -President, Chancellor’ (SN May 18).

Dear Editor, I had intended to comment on the letter from Mr Christopher Ram, ‘Insensitive gift at DDL’s AGM’ that had appeared in SN on April 11, but I got caught up with other things.

Dear Editor, The Guyana Police Force is responding to a Facebook Post the day before yesterday under the caption ‘Assistant Commissioner Marlon Chapman is a square peg in a round hole’.

Dear Editor, Reference is made to the article captioned, ‘No record of treatment of nearly 80% of cancer cases over 10-year period’ (SN, May 17). 

Dear Editor, Anand Sookram a champion ‘south paw’ tennis player and cricketer has passed on.

Dear Editor, Urgent distractions prevented my paying appropriate attention to the announced proceedings of the Commission of Inquiry into our education system (presumably exclusive of the ‘vatted’ component.)

Dear Editor, The Fort Wellington Cottage Hospital in Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice) is now utilizing a fully computerized management system which tracks the use of items in its stores and provides replenishment orders at established re-order points.

Mention the phrase “consumer protection” in Guyana, and the name ‘Eileen Cox’ must immediately come to mind as her name had, over the years, become almost synonymous with the concept.

Dear Editor, I don’t know if there is any other country in the world where people’s time is wasted as it is in Guyana, but if there is, Guyana would still stand out as a front-runner.

Dear Editor, There should be no argument that Guyana has long passed the stage when more deliberate action should be taken to address the unnecessary daily carnage on its roads.

Dear Editor, As the country prepares to celebrate its 51st Independence Anniversary on May 26th, I humbly suggest that the Regional Administration, Region 2 should recognize the distinguished and invaluable contribution of its patriotic stalwarts within the Region.

Dear Editor, Reference is made to the letter from Mr Lance Cumberbatch titled, ‘The greatest source of failure in education is teachers who shortchange pupils to force them to attend extra lessons’ (SN, May 14). 

Dear Editor, Two years ago, a Guyanese exercising his constitutional right of freedom of association and freedom of opinion, while performing duties as a candidate to the poll of the May 11, 2015 General and Regional Elections was injured and has been deemed to suffer permanent deformation.

Dear Editor, The young West Indians, especially Chase and Holder, can be proud of themselves.

Back in the 1990s, scientists who were working on antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV—as it had been established that treating the virus would prevent the patient from developing AIDS—had predicted that in time and with better drugs, HIV would become like incurable communicable diseases in the sense that as long as those infected took their medications and followed doctors’ instructions as regards lifestyle adjustments they would live long, fairly healthy lives.
