Dear Editor, On Feb 3, 2017 President Trump signed the executive order ‘Core Principles for Regulating the United States’ Financial System,’ which is his way of ‘doing a big number’ on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the 2010 legislation that followed the 2008 financial crisis and ‘great recession.’ 

Dear Editor, I was originally only going to focus this letter on the alternative facts spread by Bharrat Jagdeo’s picayune ‘media empire’ (iNews/TVG/Radio Guyana/MTV) regarding the riveting fantasy of my fugitive run from the long arms of the law for a deliberately and clearly ironic Facebook status on the parking meter issue and what I believe to its parallel and its vast superior in scale, the Sanata complex deal, but events of the past few days warrant commentary.

Dear Editor, I wish to support the excellent letter written by Dr David Hinds in KN of February 1 making a strong case against terminating the services of proficient and effective officials on the basis of their age, irrespective of their competencies.

Dear Editor                                                         The Summer Olympics have come and gone and while some of Guyana’s Caribbean neighbours can celebrate the achievements of their athletes continuing to win medals in track and field in particular, Guyana is still a long way from even repeating the lone bronze medal achievement of Michael Parris.

Dear Editor, While The Caribbean Voice awaits suicide figures for 2017 we must point out that even though such figures may well indicate a decline over the previous year because of the work of all stakeholders, they would invariably be rather conservative.

Dear Editor, It is with disappointment and frustration that I pen this letter about the selfish and uncaring Directors at the Guyana Public Service Co-operative Credit Union who have not held an Annual General Meeting for the last four years to meet and discuss with members their concerns about how our monies are being spent and if we are entitled to our dividends.

Dear Editor, President Granger’s partial announcement on the dispatch of some members of the over-the-hill gang caught me napping; if it was boxing, I would have appealed immediately for late and low blows.
